As the trip is a driving trip, you don’t have to choose places with a close airport or good transport, communications, you can see places in the countryside or less busy as the typical destinations.

Plan Your Route

The next step is to plan your journey with all detail. Get a map of your destination and mark where the route from start to finish and mark all the petrol stations, tolls and reset points. If there is an ant restaurant that you would like to go to or any shop mark is also on the map.

Get Your Car Ready

Here you have two options: rent a car or use your own car. If you rent a car, it is better if you start doing some research about the different companies and car rental insurance. However, if you use your own car you have to check if your car is ready for your trip.

Documentation

Sometimes when you drive in some countries in Europe, you will need some specific documentation.

As an example, in some cities in Frace a display sticker called Vignette Crit-Air, which has to be shown in your windscreen as a legal requirement for all vehicles. To apply to this sticker, you can go to the government website. Also, if you drive in the EU, you might also need to apply for a Carnet de Passage en Douane.

We are sure that other countries may have their own requirements or specific documents, so our best advice is to make sure that you know all the requirements of what you need to bring before starting your trip. We can give you some help with the craziest driving laws around the world.

Research Into The Laws In Your Destination

Don’t disdain how different it could be driving in another country. As you will be driving abroad, make sure that you are on the well-known on the street signs, drink driving laws and speed limits in the country you are going as they are all likely to be different from the rules you're used to in the UK.
